Still on OUR mission at Media For Community Change Initiaitive which is to be that Media organization to be reckoned with in the social space.

On the 10th February 2018, we participated in a photowalk which was themed “Diamond in The Mud” the photowalk was organized by Child Aid and Sponsorship Awareness Foundation, an organization which is aimed at getting support for orphans, displaced children and underprivileged children across Nigeria.

To spot the “Diamonds in the mud”, we made a visit to two of the IDP Camps in Abuja,Nigeria, The first IDIP Camp at Durumi District, and New Kuchingoro IDP Camp in Abuja, Nigeria, West Africa and it was an awesome experience.

The photowalk brought photographers together to tell the real yet Optimistic side of life in the IDP Camps, A sharp contrast from the Bad and the “SORRY” pictures of the internally displaced people as portrayed by the general Media. With what we saw, the situation of these people is not as bad what we read and hear through the media (both print and online).

You should note that they are people like me and you, they are beautiful, they haven’t lost hope yet, they are ambitious, and they have big dreams too.

Always remember that we need the media for a change in our mindset to see the change we all crave for in our nation. Come along as we show you some “diamonds in the mud”.
